Wow, enjoy your break. I know I will! Thanks to a last-minute PD I have to attend on Thursday, I only have 6 days left with my kids. Oh, and New Principal dropped this little bomb on us today in our staff meeting…we’re expected to put on a freakin’ Christmas assembly next Friday. Yeah…right…What the hell can I teach them to perform in 6 days? Oh, and it can’t interfere with ANY instructional time. Can you hear me laughing my ass off all the way out there?

Same here, lots of accidents this year, they aren’t chronologically much younger than last years group, but developmentally, they seem WAY younger. And it’s not just the bathroom, we are just now getting to where they can write and even copy from the board. And by board I mean even small white boards at their seats.

It’s those teeny tiny little pink spots that get me. If I were a little more generous with the bandaids, you are right, it probably wouldn’t be such a big deal, and generic bandaids won’t break the bank. Seriously though, if one kid does ANY behavior, from coughing, to getting a tissue, to going to the bathroom, auto-suggestion kicks in, and I soon have an epidemic. They have gone through two boxes of tissues in a day without any runny noses in the group.

I give bandaids whenever they’re requested. No issue from me. I haven’t seen kids deliberately make themselves bleed for one; maybe it’s because I’ve given out bandaids (not many) even if there was only a teeny tiny little pink spot where there’s an imagined injury.

My sister who is a preschool (pre K) teacher tells me that more and more 4 year olds are not potty trained where she works. This worries me. It seems like we’re expected to teach more and more academics to kids who are younger and younger. I’ve had way more bathroom accidents than usual this year. What’s up?

Aw, come on….I still get the cool printed ones (mostly because I can get them at the dollar store) and I think it’s cute how excited they get. Although, I only put them on REAL wounds. None of that, “I cut myself and need a bandaid” then they show me a scabbed over scratch!!
