Day Two in the Kinder Zone
So, with a new Principal and a new Assistant Principal, neither of which has had much experience with very young children (kindergarten) we have had some issues. Two big areas of concern, getting them through LUNCH and getting the right ones on the bus at the end of the day and the rest of them to their parents or older bothers or sisters. Buses and parents are in opposite directions.
Yesterday at lunch, they arrived 10 minutes late, (the lady lining them up and bringing them down from the kindergarten playground said they wouldn’t quit playing and line up, no big surprise there). So lunch ran over, second lunch was trying to get in and the kindergarten kids were still in the lunch room. The principal grabbed my line and said, “I’ll take them out.” Well, the first three kids followed him and the rest of the line just stood there and did what kindergarten kids do…. Looked at him as he walked off. He goes, (and I could tell he was REALLY getting frustrated), WHY WON’T THEY FOLLOW ME?” I was almost rolling on the floor, I said, “They are kindergarten and it’s the second day of school…….”
